PhD Leave and Internships
Materials › Leave and internships
Leave
- 28 days of annual leave per year, no work expected on those days.
- On top of that, two extra weeks of remote-work flexibility — you keep working, just not from the office.
One principle: no sudden, short-notice leave right before a deadline. Absent humanitarian or compassionate reasons, leave announced at the last minute in the run-up to a submission will not be approved. Plan it around the calendar instead — see the deadlines on the graduation requirements page.
Internships
I encourage you to do internships, as many as you like — as long as you keep your own progress on track and still meet the graduation requirements.
Two things are not optional:
- the period and dates of the internship need your supervisors’ approval, and
- you need the university’s off-campus approval before you go.
